For the first chunk of glyphs you can't makes heads or tails out of, so your eye skips it over. But then, even though you don't recognize any of the letters, it appears to be written in general Neopian tongue -

You can't take your eyes off the words, but you strain to not read the last one - you have a sinking feeling it says something which means "bound", and that there is something magical about the script that is dangerous.

Maybe you should walk with the book until you run into a fire or something so you can burn it. Perhaps you should consult the librarian. You've also heard that if you read different chunks of magical text in random order you can break it's spell. Or all of the above may be trash and you should just keep reading...
