Read Story So Far

Into the Deep Catacombs...

Ah, hello there young neopet! I see you have come for a story. We have many stories here, many tales to be told and read. Look around at these shelves, and delve into as many books as you want. I guarantee there will always be more than you could possibly imagine.

Go on, don't be shy! Look, they're even divided by type of story. Over here, I have adventure stories. If you're looking for romance, try that shelf. Oh, and don't forget the biographies.

If you're looking for history, we have that, too. I'm afraid that much of our source material is in storage, but you can enter that through the side door over there.

Chosen Option: Browse the adventure stories

Did anyone say boo?

You wander over to the shelves holding the adventure stories. A quick scan confirms the librarian's assertion. All sorts of spine-tingling adventures await!

You mull over which story to start reading. There's several stories with the usual sorts of dangers in them- The Esophagor, the Ghost Lupe, and other spooks. Then there's stories of pet-eating cannibals on Mystery Island, spooky tombs in the Lost Desert, lost caverns of ice in Terror Mountain...

The list goes on and on, and so does the clock as you enjoy looking through the options. Better make a decision as to which story you want to read, and ignore those shadows moving in the corner.

Chosen Option: The shadows assume form...

Uh-oh, what's this?

A flapping sound finally pulls you out of your books. Looking up you see a couple of red eyes glaring at you. Uh-oh! You cringe back against the shelf behind you, staring upward in fear. The shadows resolve to assume the vague shape of a Korbat, who is now perched on the top of the shelves.

"Hehe, so, another would-be adventurer? You don't know what you're getting into!"

You gulp back a lump in your throat. "What's that mean?"

The korbat cackles again. "You're seeking fake thrills, pet! This isn't the place for you, no sirreee! These thrills are real!"

"Uhhhh...."

"Still not a clue, I see. Well let me spell it out. Get too involved in one of these books, and you'll get sucked into them- literally! You become part of the story! Now, unless you want to be a helpless wench at the mercy of a pirate's cutlass, I'd recommend putting that book you're holding back on the shelf."

Before you can think of anything to say, the flutter of wings sounds again and the Korbat has vanished. Wierd! You look down at the book he mentioned and wonder whether to take all that talk seriously.

Chosen Option: You pick a green book off the shelf...

Island Madness!!

You look at the book, which seems to have an odd aura about it. The book has a photograph of the lush tropical jungles of Mystery Island. It looks like an interesting read, so you decide to open it.

Big mistake. A spear shoots out from the book, clipping your ear. With a yell, you slam the cover closed. The spear sticks through the cover, waving at you angrily. Suddenly, you hear loud, fast drums and war-like shrieks emit from the pages. You desperately try to hold the cover shut, but in the end it bursts open. Brown scarred paw covered with toothed jewelery reach out and grab you, and you can only scream one last time as they drag you in...

**NEW IDENTITY ASSUMED**

The brown tattooed paws drag you away, wild voices chattering into your ears. Confused, you look around. Dozens of island lupes are crating you towards a large volcano. Boiling magma erupts from it as you look down at yourself, bewildered.

Things are looking dire. It appears as though this tribe is taking you for sacrifice!! What can you do?...

Chosen Option: Run Away!!!

A Fantastic Leap!

Without a moment's hesitation, you wiggle out of the paws holding you and sprint off away from the Lupes. Unfortunately, that happens to be directly towards the volcano. Its a good thing you spent so much time at Grundo's Gym, because what your planning to pull off is something that only happens in movies!

Gathering speed, you tense your body as you speed along the last few feet to the mouth of the volcano. At the last possible second, you jump!

Fortunately, the mouth of the volcano isn't wide. You've jumped wider things than this before and made it. However, its an entirely different matter when the heat coming up from it is making the air shimmer and your fur burn!

Chosen Option: Wait - you have fur?

Uh Oh...

You look at yourself in your rather untidy shape only to discover it's not your original shape. Someone, you got changed into looking like this-

When did this happen? Let's go back to your escape ... yeah, you did get away from the lupes, you ran up the volcano - wait, the lupes were pursuing you, and then they suddenly stopped. You also had a sudden speed burst at the time.

Come to think of it, the lupes didn't do much to resist your escape attempt, and only two out of the whole sixty lupes or so followed you. Since you were trying to run and not anylyze your captors you're not sure, but one of the lupes chasing you might have been decked in completely white fur.

But you don't have much time left to ponder on this side of a volcano as you see...

Chosen Option: 1 Huge Lupe = 60 Small Ones

This looks ugly...

Some leaves shake. Green bamboo rattles. The trees shake as well, and some Pteri flocks in the trees fly out of the trees. It looks like they're fleeing from some horrid foreshadow. The Pteris are sensible animals, and that means they know what the first sign of danger is. So that means...Uh oh.

You turn around and suddenly wish you hadn't. There's a gigantic white lupe standing only a few metres away from you. You look up and strain your neck to see two menacing yellow eyes and fangs that are dripping saliva. It's as big as the nearby trees, and worse...It looks like it is not friendly--As if you didn't know that already.

This can only mean two things:
1) The lupe is hungry, and
2) the other lupes stopped chasing you after they sent this monstrosity after you.

Your first instinct is to run, but it looks like that thing could outrun just about anything. It looks like you'll have to do something else to get away from this monster.

What do you do?

Chosen Option: Try to talk to the gigantic lupe

As if the lupe can hear you, let alone respond

Doesn't look like you have many other options. Maybe this lupe understands Central Neopian, and you're mind isn't fast enough to come up with something else in time.

You intend to say "Please don't eat me." However, as that's the first thing you've said in your new lupe body (remember, you used to be an aisha) and it comes out "Praaaahhhh deerrrrrr ettteeeee." The gigantic lupe is still approaching.

You try saying it again, but it comes out very different than your first attempt.

"Gah grrrr rawolf yip!"

To your surprise, the gigantic lupe seems to look at you intelligently. It opens it's mouth, not to eat you, but to say ...
